Celebrating Independence Day wouldn't be complete without a spectacular fireworks display. Fortunately, festivities abound throughout the state and, in some areas, you don't even need to wait until July 4th to enjoy an impressive light show. Go ahead, get a jump on planning how you'll spend this patriotic summer holiday by taking a look at some of the fireworks events planned in the Garden State.

July 2

Newark:

A little more than half a century ago, a new sound took shape in and around Detroit that revolutionized the music industry. Today, the Motor City Revue faithfully recreates that signature Motown sound and takes audiences on a journey back in time to where it all began. The Motor City Revue is an 11-piece band covering popular and rare Motown and Stax hits, plus rock and soul classics. The band was formed to offer music lovers an authentic tribute to the artists and songs that defined a generation. They will have the audience dancing and singing along to the songs immortalized by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, The Supremes and countless others. Motor City Revue and the Fireworks Display will be held as follows:

July 3

New Providence:

The New Providence Independence Day Celebration returns to the borough on Tuesday, July 3, on South Street from Gales Drive to Springfield Avenue, and will include fun filled activities for all. DJ John Souren of Club Souren will provide entertainment from his perch on South Street. There will be "Chalk on South" (kids of all ages can get a free "bucket" of chalk to create art and messages on the street) and lots of fun for the whole family. The event begins at 7 PM and the fabulous fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 PM.

Perth Amboy:

Perth Amboy hosts its fireworks celebration on Tuesday July 3 over Raritan Bay. Rain date set for July 5.

Camden:

Freedom Festival: MGK Hosts Free Concert & Fireworks w/ Eddie Money starts at 5 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m. following a fireworks display in Wiggins Park, Camden.

Chatham:

Chatham Borough hosts its fireworks show July 4 at Chatham Middle School. Gates open at 7 p.m. Attendees can enjoy live music, followed by fireworks at dusk. An Independence Day Parade starts at at 10:30 a.m., rain or shine, and marches down Chatham's Main Street.

Florham Park:

Florham Park's annual July 4th celebration offers a full day of fun. Starting at 9 a.m. on July 4, a flag raising ceremony will be held. Fireworks will begin at 8:15 p.m. If the event of rain, fireworks will be moved to July 5.

Jersey City:

Mayor Steven M. Fulop announceSSNOOP DOGG as the headlining performer for the Fifth Annual Jersey City 4th of July Experience, as the City continues to expand on the day-long, outdoor celebration on the Hudson River waterfront. The festivity will begin at noon with a full-scale carnival, continuous entertainment, several beer gardens, and an elite conglomerate of food trucks. The show will culminate with the world-renowned fireworks company Grucci lighting up the skyline from multiple barges on the Hudson River.

Long Branch:

Long Branch Oceanfest10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Fireworks at 9:00 p.m.

It's the biggest seasonal event on the Jersey Shore — in fact, it's the biggest Independence Day celebration anywhere in New Jersey, and it happens every July 4th right here in Long Branch.

Millburn-Short Hills:

On Wednesday, July 4th, Millburn/Short Hills will be hosting a July 4th celebration beginning at 9:00 AM in Taylor Park with the flag raising, a softball game, and a bike and trike parade with awards for the best decorations. At 3:00 PM the celebration continues at Millburn High School with live music, food trucks, rides, raffles, and fireworks. Tickets are $10 per person and will be sold at the high school.

Milltown:

Milltown's July Fourth celebration is full day of family fun held Wednesday, July 4 starts with a 6 a.m. fishing derby and ends with fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

Montclair:

Fireworks will take place July 4th at Yogi Berra Stadium on the campus of Montclair State University.

Ocean City:

Kite flying competition at 7pm followed by entertainment. A spectacular boardwalk fireworks display tops off the evening at 9pm. For more information call 609-399-6111.

Ridgewood:

Join the 108th annual Ridgewood Fourth of July celebration. The theme for the parade this year is Rockin' Ridgewood: Celebrating All-American Music, honoring the impact of American music throughout history.

The day starts with a flag raising at 9am followed by a parade stepping off at 10am. Evening entertainment begins at 6pm with three band performances and ends with a fireworks display.

Event is rain or shine.

Sea Isle City:

Sea Isle City's July Fourth celebration includes an Independence Day concert with The Patriot Brass Ensemble on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 from 7:30pm to 9:00pm, followed by fireworks.
