Assisted Living Reviews for Oak Hammock at the University of Florida

I visited this facility
We have friends living in Oak Hammock. I like the idea of their meal plan; as opposed to having to eat meals, they had a credit system. If you didn't use all your credits, they will carry over, as opposed to saying use it or lose it by the end of the month. The community is in the metropolitan area, so there are a lot more cultural activities to be involved in. They also provide transportation to a lot of these places for the activities. The restaurant staff seemed competent.

Oak Hammock at the University of Florida was an outstanding place, but it also had an outstanding cost. It was comprehensive and first-class all the way, including the cost. They had apartments, and you could cook if you wanted to. They had a full-service dining area, and the food was excellent. We had dinner there and it was very good.

I love Oak Hammock, but I need half a million dollars to get in there, and I don't have that kind of money. Oak Hammock is a wonderful place for somebody that has a great amount of money. It is fantastic! It is independent and also when you give them your half a million dollars that guarantees that they will also give you assisted living and intensive care if you have Alzheimer's or something. It is a great deal, if you have half a million dollars. They have awesome activities. They are connected with the university. You have a lot of classes, and it is wonderful place to be. They take you to the opera and to the theater and all these stuff. They are really very good, but they are only for rich people. I visit them several times, and the staff is amazing. In fact, if I had half a million dollars, I would be there today. Their apartments are very spacious. Their houses are spacious as well. The accommodations are very fine. I just don't want apartments, I want a house. They have everything. It is expensive, but they have excellent care. I will recommend Oak Hammock for people who are wealthy.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
My mom was ready to make a switch so looked at some places, but we found out that the care she was getting at Oak Hammock is probably better than most places. So she just decided to move from independent to assisted living. My dad passed away 3 years ago, but he was cared for in the memory unit also. I like the people best. There are a lot of people caring for my mom who have been there for years, and they cared for my dad as well. They really became family. They check in on her and make sure she's happy and comfortable. They're good. The facility is very new, clean, bright, and very appropriate. Even though we moved her to a smaller apartment, it has been very comfortable for her. They have a great staff of people trying to get these guys engaged in activities. My mom is a not a real joiner, but there are certain things she loves going to. She loves to get her nails done and loves to attend ice cream night. She doesn't participate in atheletics or card games, but they have a lot of options. I guess the way they can improve is just to keep encouraging her that it is important to put in her hearing aid every day.

This facility met the needs of my Great Aunt through all of the stages of her cancer. She first started in an apartment style room. As her illness progressed, she was moved to a room with more medical equipment, nurses and around the clock care. I would like to note, there are "houses" outside of the main nursing building for people that can still be on their own with limited assistance from the nursing staff, although my aunt never lived in one. I visited the facility many times over the course of her stay. The rooms were clean and she was allowed to decorate the way that she liked (to an extent) in order for it to feel like a home. The nurses were always pleasant and friendly. The facilities were always clean and smelled fresh. The front desk staff followed the guidelines for signing in and signing out each time I would visit and they were always friendly. My aunt did not have complaints about this facility when we asked her. To the best of my knowledge, my aunt enjoyed her time at Hammock Oaks and I would recommend this facility to anyone requiring their services.
